Grading Day 2026 Information

Grading Day is an important part of building balanced, competitive teams at Grays Point Soccer Club. Our grading policy has been developed to ensure the process is fair, transparent and focused on giving every player the opportunity to play, develop and enjoy their football.

On grading day, players are assessed by experienced club graders using consistent criteria that reflect skill level, game awareness, teamwork and attitude. The aim is not just to place players based on ability, but to create teams that support long-term development, sportsmanship and a positive club culture.

The following policies outline how grading works, what players and parents can expect on the day, and how final team selections are made. We encourage all families to read through the policy so everyone understands the process and the principles that guide our decisions.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

GRAYS POINT SOCCER CLUB NOW HAS AN AED (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR) FOR EMERGENCY USE IN THE COMMUNITY.

An AED, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.

POINTS TO KNOW

Apply DRSABCD (see attached)
Call '000" and request an Ambulance First and provide the location of the incident.
Provide CPR if required
Send someone to collect the AED
Once at the AED call one of the 4 x emergency contact numbers to get the Code to open the lock box.
The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is easy to use as it speaks to you. It tells you what you can do to save the life of a person in cardiac arrest, whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

5.10 Social Media Policy

The Governing Bodies acknowledge the emergence of new technology and communication mediums (Social Media), and wish to enable such Social Media to be used to benefit football and its participants, and to applaud achi evem e nts. However, participants within football need to b e mindful of the possibility of Social Media being used inappropriately. Inappropriate use may occur unintentionally or when participants do not realise that their comments, once published are in a public forum, and are difficult to retract.

Social Media platforms include:

(a) social networking sites, including Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn;

(b) video and photo sharing websites, including Flickr and YouTube;

(d) weblogs, including personal blogs or blogs hosted by traditional media publications;

(e) forums and discussion boards, including those operated by Fox Sports, Four Four Two or

The World Game;

(f) online encyclopaedias, such as Wikipedia; and

(g) any other web site that allow individual users or companies to use simple publishing tools.

Cautions the Governing Bodies recommend include:

(a) do not include personal information of yourself or others in Social Media channels;

(b) do not use offensive, aggressive, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, obscene,

profane, harassing, intimidating, sexually explicit, bullying, sexist, racist, provocative,

hateful or otherwise provocative language in Social Media channels;

uncomfortable, and never write/ publish if you are feeling emotional or upset (or are

intoxicated);

(d) always ask for a person’s permission before posting their picture on Social Media platform;

Football Federation Australia – National Member Protection Policy

(e) never comment on rumours, do not deny or affirm them or speculate about rumours in

Social Media channels;

(f) do not include information which is in breach of laws, court orders, undertakings or

contracts; and

(g) always use Social Media/ network forums to add value and promote football in a positive

way.

In addition to this Policy, FFA may from time to time issue Social Media policies and/ or guidelines

that apply to specific individuals.

Donate your drink containers to help us raise money.

The Possums have teamed up with Envirobank to do our bit for the environment and raise some funds for our club. Every empty container you donate raises 10c for our club.

All you have to do is pop your bottles and cans in our blue collection bins at the club (NO FOOD) & Managers grab an orange collection bag from the club house near the pigeon holes to fill up at away games or at home.

Concussion Assessment Toolkit

In Attachment E of the Rule Book 2017 is the Pocket Concussion Recognition Tool as follows

Recognise and Remove

Concussion should be suspected if one or more of the following visible clues, signs, symptoms or errors in memory questions are present.

Visible clues of suspected concussion

Any one or more of the following visual clues can indicate a possible concussion:

Loss of consciousness or responsiveness Lying motionless on ground / slow to get up
Unsteady on feet / balance problems or falling over / Incoordination Grabbing / Clutching of Head
Dazed, blank or vacant look
Confused / Not aware of plays or events

Signs and Symptom of suspected concussion

Presence of any one or more of the following signs & symptoms may suggest a concussion

Loss of consciousness
Headache Seizure or convulsion
Dizziness
Balance Problems
Confusion
Nausea or vomiting
Feeling slowed down
Drowsiness
"Pressure in Head"
More Emotional
Blurred vision
Irritability
Sensitivity to light
Sadness
Amnesia
Fatigue or low energy
Feeling like "in a fog"
Nervous or anxious
Neck pain
"Don't feel right"
Sensitivity to noise
Difficulty remembering
Difficulty concentrating

Memory Function

Failure to answer any of these questions correctly may suggest a concussion:

"What venue are we at today?"
" What half is it now?"
"Who scored last in the game?"
" What team did you play last week/game? "
" Did you team win the last game?"

Any athlete with a suspected concussion should be IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM PLAY, and should not be returned to activity until they are assessed medically.

Athletes with a suspected concussion should not be left alone and should not drive a motor vehicle. It is recommended that, in all cases of suspected concussion, the players referred to a medical professional for diagnosis and guidance as well as return to play decision, even is symptoms resolve.

RED FLAGS

If any of the following are reported then the player should be safely and immediately removed from the field. If no qualified medical professional is available, cconsider transporting by ambulance for urgent medical assessment:

Athlete complains of neck pain
Deteriorating conscious state
Increasing confusion or irritability
Severe or increasing headache
Repeated vomiting
Unusual behaviour change
Seizure or convulsion
Double vision Weakness or tingling / burning in arms or legs

Remember in all cases, the basic principles of first aid (danger, response, airway, breathing, circulation) should be followed
Do not attempt to move the player (other than required for airway support) unless trained to so do.
Do not remove helmet (if present) unless trained to do s o.
